The Kemflake is a high performance random packing that has many advantages over conventional plastic tower packings. 

 The Kemflake will add to Kemflo’s diverse offering of high performance plastic random packing. A product line which includes the very popular Tri-Pack, Pall Ring and Transferlox Plastic Saddles. The Kemflake is similar to the performance of the Tri-Pack and offers high capacity, low pressure drop, high flooding point, uniform gas-liquid distribution and excellent corrosion resistance. The unique design of the Kemflake tower packing product consist of a geometrical
pattern of structs and ribs specifically designed to maximize performance and reduce operating cost. Like the Tri-Pack there is minimal settling and nesting thanks to the product’s symmetrical design. The Kemflake offers excellent wetting capabilities resulting in even distribution of liquid throughout the packed bed and provides excellent liquid gas contact. The ratio of open space to surface area provides excellent mass transfer efficiency and results in lower operating cost.

The Kemflake can be utilized in numerous process and environmental applications to meet your specific requirement. The Kemflake is a very versatile and durable tower packing and is suitable for some of the most demanding applications. Some applications in which this plastic random packing is used include scrubbing, air stripping, cooling towers, washing towers, absorption, distillation, extraction, de-aerating, biological filtration and more. As with any random packing it is important to have an engineer confirm it’s compatibility for each specific application in which it is utilized.

The Kemflake plastic random packing is approximately 3.66” in radius by 1.18” tall and is available is a variety of resins including specialty resins. All of the resins that KemFlo uses in our manufacturing processes are traceable to original raw material sources and resin data specifications are available upon request. So not only do our customer receive plastic tower packing from a leading manufacturer they know the material of construction or resin used in the manufacturing process came from a reliable source. Available resins include polypropylene, polypropylene with glass %, polypropylene with talc, polyvinylchloride PVC, Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride CPVC, polyvinylidene floride PVDF and other resins available upon request.

Tower internals are designed to work together in order to reach specific efficiency goals. The design of various tower internals depends on numerous factors such as gas flow rates, liquid flow rates, operating temperatures, contaminates and more. All column internals must be designed to work together in order to ensure the intended performance of the system.

A properly designed system will not only perform as intended, it will also minimize operating cost and required maintenance. While all internals are important in reaching optimum performance, none are more important than tower packing.

Plastic tower packing has evolved from basic designs to complex configurations and high-performance packing. The goal of plastic tower packing has always been to increase a system’s efficiency and cost savings. The most successful plastic tower packing in accomplishing these goals is the Tri-Packs product. The Tri-Pack’s unique design addresses every aspect of a high-performance tower packing. From its spherical shape to its internal design Tri-Packs are ideally suited to optimize efficiency in any application including scrubbing, air stripping, distillation, extraction, biological filtration and more.

Tri-Packs are a spherical tower packing with a carefully designed network of ribs, structs and drip rods which result in the ideal balance between surface area and open area. The spherical shape of Tri-Packs allows each individual piece to roll into the packed bed position without forming void areas within a packed section unlike irregular shaped random packing or random packing with excessive appurtenances. Tri-Packs eliminate the need to consider allowances for settling and due to its spherical shape nesting is virtually impossible. The round shape design offers reliable and predictable loading of your tower saving time and money.

Tripacks are designed to maximize the performance of your system while minimizing the operating cost. In addition to its superior geometric shape, the Tri-Pack offers an active surface area which is critical to efficient mass transfer. The specially designed network of ribs, struts and drip rods has proven to give the Tri-Packs an advantage over other plastic random packing styles in providing excellent wetting qualities and maintaining liquid distribution through the packed bed. Some plastic tower packing styles have more surface area, but more surface area alone is not an indication of performance. Excessive surface area can impede proper gas and liquid contact and will result in higher pressure drop which increases the horsepower requirements and operating cost. Tri-Packs were specifically designed to optimize the surface area to open area ratio which yields excellent mass transfer efficiency and lower operating cost. One of KemFlo’s most popular plastic random packing styles is the Tri-Pack. The Tri-Pack is a high-performance packing which helps customer achieve optimum performance from their system. The Tri-Pack is a hollow spherical column packing constructed of a unique network of ribs, struts and drop rods. Its superior geometric shape gives it an advantage over other products on the market. Their spherical shape allows each element to roll into the packed position without forming void areas common to irregular shaped packing. With Tri-Packs there is no need for allowances for settling and nesting is virtually impossible. The round Tri-Pack offers reliable and predictable loading of your tower which means more reliable and predictable performance of your system. In addition to the superior geometric shape, an active surface area is very important to mass transfer. The unique network of ribs, struts and drip rods have proven to give Tri-Packs a distinct advantage in providing excellent wetting qualities and maintaining liquid distribution through the packed bed. Excessive surface area can impede proper gas and liquid contact and always results in higher pressure. The Tri-Pack offers an optimum surface area to open area ratio which yields excellent mass transfer efficiency and reduced operating cost. Tri-Packs are available in 1”, 2” and 3.5”, and are manufactured using only prime, virgin resins. Almost any injection moldable resin is available. Some of the most common resins include PP, PE, PP-Glass, CPVC, PVDF, and more. Our Polypropylene material is NSF approved resin. The Kemlox plastic saddle is another plastic random packing product manufactured by KemFlo that offer excellent physical properties. The high capacity Kemlox plastic saddle packing offers distinct advantages over conventional saddle designs. The serrated edges promote high mass transfer rates through effective liquid surface removal. The serrated edges of the Kemlox reduce bed settling during operation and assist to maintain packing free space and create lower column pressure drop. The Kemlox plastic saddles are available in 1”, 2” and 3” sizes. They too are available in a variety of resins.

The KemFlo plastic Pall Ring is a robust plastic random packing featuring an open wall construction which maintains even liquid distribution. Reinforced struts provide additional surface area for gas-liquid contact and support the outer ring. The KemFlo plastic Pall Ring is available in 1”, 2” amd 3.5” sizes and numerous resins are available.
